Dogwood Dog ShowHave you ever watched the Westminster Dog Show and thought to yourself that little Ruffie could run circles around those dogs on TV?

Winchester’s International Dogwood Festival offers guests the chance to see their prized pet participate in a dog show that’s become a staple of the program.

K-9s, all shapes and sizes, are welcome to tag along.

Amanda Curty of the Animal Care Center in Winchester intends to serve as master of ceremonies during the event. Meanwhile, the judging panel will comprise folks from out of town. The judges will give out awards to the competing K-9 contestants.

Categories include “smallest,” “best tail-wagger,” “largest,” “best trick,” and “best costume.” A grand prize, Dogwood Festival Dog of the Year, will be awarded to the best in show.

The dog show is sponsored by the Animal Care Center as well as Bubbles and Bows Pet Spa and Boutique in Decherd.

Get out and show your best friend off to friends and neighbors.

The competition takes place during festival weekend on Saturday, May 7, and will begin at 9 a.m.
